Summary:
This is a Remote First Aid (20hr) to Wilderness First Aid (40hr) Bridging course. Upon successful completion of the course you will have gained comprehensive first aid and CPR techniques for those who need a higher level of training to work and respond to emergencies in isolated or wilderness settings. There is an option to camp out on this course, where further topics in advanced wilderness first aid will be discussed.
Course Prerequisites:
- Proof of current Red Cross Remote First Aid certification
Duration: Twenty (20 hours). With or without overnight. More than 50% of the course must be taught in a non-urban setting
Audience: Suitable for those who wish to become professional guides, parks officials and/or work in fields such as recreation and tourism
Environment:
- Wilderness (3 or more hours from organized health care)
- Challenging environments with varied risk levels
Care: Participants learn skills and strategies for providing extended care overnight to a few days
